Train traffic between Russia and Azerbaijan to see changes

The North Caucasus Railway, a subsidiary of the Russian Railways, isnormalizing train traffic between Azerbaijan and Russia, Trendreports.The new schedule will have passenger and freighting transport from18:00 to 06:00 on Derbent-Artezian section, head of the press-serviceof Azerbaijani Railways Nadir Azmamedov said on Thursday.The North Caucasus Railways did not comment on the new works and termsof returning to the former schedule.

Dagestan cancels night trains

For security purposes, the schedule for passenger trains in Dagestan has been changed: the times of departure, arrival and routes of trains on the territory of the republic was adjusted so that the trains will run only during daylight hours, Yuga.ru reports.According to the Makhachkala office of the North-Caucasian railway, a ban on the movement of passenger trains on the territory of Dagestan during the night was enforced by the first vice-president of the Russian Railways Company, Vadim Morozov.

Armenia to provide $50 million for Vanadzor-Fioletovo railway construction

Armenia will provide $49.9 million from the Anti-Crisis Fund forconstruction of the VanadzorFioletovo railway, Armenian Minister ofTransport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan said on Tuesday, Arkareports.He noted that other 50% of the project will be covered using Russianinvestments, according to the deal on parity financing.The minister said that the project is worth $100 million, but theexact sum of expenses will be known after the works, which are plannedto start in autumn.

South-Caucasian Railways (SCR) and Georgian Railways (GR) are toimplement a single ticket system, News Armenia reports, citing theSCR.On November SCR and GR signed an agreement on implementing a bookingsystem for passenger trains on SCR. The system was developed bysoftware specialists of both countries, based on the Orion informationplatform. The system allows booking and sales of tickets in bothdirections.

'Russian Railways' to receive 40 billion rubles for Sochi projects

The government plans to allocate 40 billion rubles to the 'RussianRailways' company in 2011 to construct transport infrastructure withinthe framework of preparations for the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.The funds will be issued as part of the company's charter capital,Interfax reports. The government issued 60 billion rubles to thecompany in 2010 using the same scheme.'Russian Railways' will receive a total of 71.8 billion rubles thisyear for preparations for the 2014 Games.
